Here at Mimo we are obsessed with travel and finding the most delicious place to be. Imagine our excitement, then, when Olive magazine named Sevilla (and Mimo Sevilla) as one of the top foodie destinations of 2018! More on that later…but first, in our curiosity, we compiled the destinations showing up on all the must-travel lists for this new year:
South Korea is the talk of the 2018 travel lists. Perhaps inspired by global political events, there is a new urgency to visit this Asian country. The site of the 2018 winter olympics, Pyeongchang is benefiting from an influx of cash and people, which is why it tops several lists, from CNN to Travel and Leisure. And CN Traveler. And more.
Seville is the city on everyone’s lips in 2018. Coming in at number one on the Lonely Planet list, it doesn’t hurt that the Game of Thrones spent time filming here last year. But the true call of Sevilla comes in the form of music, drink and food. Whether you’re tapas hopping or learning to recreate famous Andalucian dishes like salmorejo and pescaito frito, there’s so much richness to discover in this dynamic city.
“The Mimo Sevilla Cooking School will be set poolside in the shady, tropical gardens of the city’s landmark hotel, the Neo-Mujedar Hotel Alfonso XIII. Classes in the high-tech kitchen, replete with wood-fired oven, will be led by expert local chefs and include a range of Spanish cooking styles, as well as tapas workshops, wine and food pairing events and sherry tastings. At the end of the lesson, students will be able to enjoy the fruits of their labours with a leisurely lunch at an al fresco table. mimofood.com”
Germany also came in strong with various lists of where to travel in 2018. Why? From Hamburg’s new concert hall to Bayreuth’s surprising cultural offer, it seems to check off this year’s European music and cultural box.
And stateside, everyone was debating over Nashville and Detroit. These two very different cities actually have a bit in common—excellent music and even better food. Detroit feels up and coming, according to Lonely Planet. And Nashville feels right on trend, says Olive.
